I’m a HUGE fan of video for websites. The stats say people are 80 per cent more likely to buy or engage after watching a video. And you only have to think of your own behaviour when it comes to engaging with people, buying services from people or trusting people after watching a video. You just feel you know them that little bit more right? And if you’re wanting to get yourself booked as as speaker, or a tv presenter, or anything public facing, then video showcases you in action and as we all know, actions speak a lot louder than words.
(Hmm, should I be publishing this blog post as a video?!)
Embedded videos also keep people on your site, as people stop to watch them. It’s also important to present yourself in lots of different media forms. Not everyone likes reading.
I recently built a website for Mary Nightingale of ITV News, one of the UK’s most well known female broadcasters. As part of her project, I filmed and produced this exclusive behind the scenes video of Mary preparing for the news, which can be seen only on her website (erm, and on this one!). By opening the doors to Mary’s professional world, visitors to her website will be better able to understand what her job involves, see her talents and like and trust her even more.
The video is only 3 minutes long (video for websites needs to be short and snappy) but it’s exciting, insightful and illuminating at the same time. Enjoy.
