I know I’m always going on about video, and how if you are a talented person wanting to show your work, then video is something you must consider. It simply makes you more bookable. It immediately demonstrates your abilities, showcases your personality and helps people connect with you before they buy or book you.
It helps removes the uncertainty that someone wondering about you might have, and that can range from ‘can this person actually do what they say they can do’ to ‘will I like this person if I do go ahead and book them.’
There are different types of videos that you can film, but most fall into the following categories
- Portfolio videos that show your finished products or you demonstrating your talents.
- Behind the scenes videos – of you or your work.
- In action videos – that show you doing your work step by step.
- Introduction videos – in which you talk about yourself and your offerings.
Take a look at this ‘in action’ video I filmed and edited for Paul Johnson, a client who restores original Victorian tiles. Anyone with a question mark over whether or not Paul is the right tiler for them would most likely have that removed by watching the video. It shows him in action, and also shows what a likeable guy he is.
